White beard, head turning white. Normally a genial fellow, I worry about threats to tolerance, diversity and social equity. Ratty journalism makes me really grumpy. Now 71, I retired six years ago after a working lifetime as a city newspaper journalist, and live quietly with my wife Merry in a home full of memories, the place where we brought up four children on the New South Wales Central Coast.
I remain a member, albeit honorary, of the Australian Journalists Association, now part of the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance, which combines the roles of industrial union and professional association, and accept its Code of Ethics for journalists.
Remember, however, this is a blog. It's opinionated, but I also try to keep it fair and accurate.
